Tailrace has always been deeply engaged in the life of our local community. It’s part of who we are — a cultural characteristic and one of our greatest strengths.
Our hope is to remain forever gripped by God’s restorative vision for the world, and to play our small part in it.
We want to keep asking — with open hands and open hearts:
“God, what are You doing in the world around us?
And how can we join in?”
That’s our desire. Perhaps then, love may increase in our world.
Below are some of the ways that love takes shape in and through our community.
Since 2013, Date Night has been one of the simplest and most beautiful ways we’ve seen love multiply in our city.
It began in Florence with Tim and Sharon — who, while dining one evening, noticed a waiter gently distracting children so their parents could enjoy a quiet moment together. Out of that small act of kindness, an idea was born.
Every month, church volunteers offer free childcare so parents can share dinner at Jude’s Café. It’s our way of valuing marriages, strengthening families, and reminding couples that love deserves time and space.

Jude’s is the banner for our work with young people — across sport, school, and social spaces.
We’ve positioned it between the faith and non-faith worlds, creating places where everyone can come together for the sake of young people.
It’s one of the ways we pursue our vision of making Launceston, Australia’s healthiest city for youth — a city where young people can flourish in body, mind, and spirit, and where belonging opens the door to transformation.
We see ourselves as part of the global Church, called to bless others beyond our borders.
Through partnership with an organisation that plants churches and pursues social justice, we participate in God’s restorative work around the world.
It’s one more way we live out His heart for renewal — locally, regionally, and globally.
