The Plan: Our Discipleship Pathway

We take the final command of Jesus very seriously .

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Our Mission:

We believe that it is our mission to help you become a disciple of Jesus, and equip you to make other disciples, who go on to make other disciples.

So let's sketch out a pathway by beginning with a picture of what a disciple is.

At Tailrace we describe it as someone who is on a journey to:
  • Be with Jesus,
  • Become like Jesus,
  • Do what Jesus did.
These are the relational, transformational and commissional elements of our faith.
We then use a language of familial generations to map out the different stages that a person takes on the pathway to maturity as a disciple of Jesus. Let’s caveat this by reminding ourselves that each person is unique and nothing is ever so straight forward.
Nevertheless we believe that by providing a map and a language, it goes a long way to helping reach the desired destination.

The Stages of Discipleship

We term these stages: spiritually dead, spiritual infant, spiritual child, spiritual young adult, and a spiritual parent.
Each stage has a different set of tools and aims to help someone on their journey.
We then overlay this with a series of environments and practices that provide the right conditions to facilitate healthy growth.
Our mission as a church is to help you become a disciple making disciple of Jesus!
